Quit Smoking Hypnosis Progams Have the Highest Long Term Success Rate

Of all the methods people use to quit smoking, hypnosis is the most effective. There are studies that show that when people use quit smoking hypnosis programs they are successful more than 60% of the time. When you compare that with the success rates of quit smoking drugs (20% to 30%), it makes a lot of sense to use hypnosis programs.
But what exactly happens during hypnosis when it’s used to quit smoking? Basically, you put yourself into a light trance state. You’re not asleep, but you’re not intently focused on your everyday thoughts. You’re in a state of deep relaxation, but you’re still able to hear and respond to the world around you.
A lot of people think they can’t be hypnotized. They know they’re usually tense and have trouble relaxing. But most people can learn relaxation techniques. And that’s really all you need to be able to do for a successful quit smoking hypnosis program.
There are a lot of hypnosis programs that claim that you will quit smoking after one session. This is actually quite possible. Many people report that they have quit smoking for several hours or the rest of the day after only one session.
But that doesn’t mean you never have to use the self hypnosis program began. In reality, when you use a hypnosis program to stop smoking, you’re learning an ongoing technique. You’ll be able to use it for the rest of your life, whenever the urge to smoke comes up.
Think of it this way: if you take a golf lesson, your swing could be greatly improved after only one lesson. But you’d still have to practice that new technique every time you play golf.
It’s the same when you learn a hypnosis technique to stop smoking. Every time you get a nicotine craving, you have a choice to make. You can light up a cigarette or cigar, or you can practice your hypnosis technique.
So will you have to take hypnosis “lessons” forever? Well, think about the golf lesson analogy. If you want to improve your golf game, do you have to take golf lessons forever? Of course not!
You take a lesson to improve your swing, then you go out and practice what you’ve learned. And the more you practice, the better you get, and the easier it is to play well.
But even if your game improves a lot after that one lesson (and lots of practice), there might come a time when you would want to take another lesson. What if you had an accident and hurt your knee, or you just couldn’t play golf for several months? You might need a refresher lesson just to get back into shape.
It’s the same thing when you use hypnosis to quit smoking. You learn it. You practice it. You improve your technique. And the beauty of it is, even though your goal is to quit smoking forever, if that doesn’t happen after your first hypnosis try, you can still try again until you reach your goal.
When your goal is to quit smoking for good, you haven’t failed unless you stop trying. Chances are you’ve already tried to quit smoking at least once. So you already know that it’s not an easy thing to do.
The reality is that most people try to quit smoking several times before they finally quit for good. So instead of beating yourself up for relapsing, think of it as getting one step closer to your final goal. As long as you keep trying to quit, there is no doubt that you will be successful. And using hypnosis will definitely help you achieve your goal.

Hypnosis Therapy: Relieving Lifes Problems With Hypnosis

Hypnosis therapy has been used for a long time now in order to treat a wide variety of psychological conditions. Contrary to popular perception, hypnosis has nothing to do with black magic or anything that is even remotely supernatural. It is in fact a science by itself and helps in creating a sense of control on their lives in people. An increasing number of people are getting benefited from hypnosis these days, thanks to its rising popularity, courtesy the internet.
Hypnosis therapy involves giving powerful suggestions to a person when he or she is in a trance like state. Any person in a hypnotized state is relaxed with the mind being extremely attentive. This kind of mental situation is something similar to the one that is induced by various meditative techniques. During this trance like state, direct access to any person’s powerful conscious mind is permitted.
Hypnosis therapy is used in treating a wide variety of psychological problems these days. Many bad habits including smoking and alcohol addiction can also be treated using hypnosis. In fact millions of people around the world use hypnosis in order to quit smoking. Powerful messages against smoking can be given to a smoker’s subconscious mind during a hypnotized state. These powerful messages get embedded in their mind and they would then lose the urge to smoke this way. While in some instances a single session of hypnosis may be all that is needed in order to quit smoking, it could also take several sessions in some other cases. Many cases of alcohol addiction are also treated similarly using hypnosis.
Hypnosis therapy is also used in the treatment of other psychological problems including, anxiety, tension, fear, depression and phobias. People have been known to achieve increased self-confidence after undergoing this therapy. There are many medical conditions too in which this therapy is used. For instance patients suffering from pain as a result of radiation or surgery are often treated using hypnosis, which helps in giving them relief. With so many benefits to be accrued, it is no wonder that hypnosis is increasingly becoming popular these days.
While visiting an experienced hypnotist is the best way to experience the benefits of hypnosis therapy, these days there are also many other self-hypnosis aids available. The market is for instance flooded with many compact discs on the subject, using which you can hypnotize yourself and gain several benefits. A few sessions of hypnosis can bring about a positive change in your life and boost your self-esteem immensely.

Using Hypnosis To Stop Smoking Now

Although smoking can become a physical craving, it is a habit that can still be effectively ended simply by using mind power. In fact, quitting smoking is one of the most common purposes that hypnosis serves in the medical world. If you have tried everything to help you quit this very dangerous habit and yet you are still hooked, it might be good for you to try hypnosis this time.

Many people sadly underestimate the power of hypnosis. Nevertheless, numerous studies have shown that hypnosis can be effectively used to attain various goals and quitting smoking is just one of them.

Hypnosis exercises can be done by yourself or with the help of a professional. Although anyone can certainly practice self-hypnosis, this exercise will take quite some time for you to master. It will also require you to hone your mental skills.

A hypnotherapist will have to be paid by the hour. You can ask for referrals from your family, friends, or your personal physician. On the other hand, in order to use self-hypnosis to stop smoking, here is what you should do:

Step 1, Find a place at home or in the office where you can enjoy some peace and quiet as well as some alone time. The best time to do this is usually right before you take breakfast or before you sleep. Disconnect your phone and the ringer and switch off your mobile phone to ensure that you will not get disturbed. Lock the door as well and inform everyone in the vicinity that you will be temporarily incommunicado.

Step 2, Think of a position where you will be most comfortable without inevitably falling asleep. If you can do this lying down then that is great but most people prefer to sit on a couch with their backs straight. Remember that it must be a position you can feel comfortable holding as long as needed.

Step 3, While some hypnosis sessions will require you to focus on just one specific goal or a single sentence or affirmation alone, you will definitely need more than that to successfully hypnotize yourself into quitting smoking. Smoking is a very hard habit to break, and that is why it needs more than a powerful sentence or two to get it completely out of your system.

Form a paragraph or two that fully and vividly describes the state of being free from smoking. Provide rich details on how wonderful it is not to be addicted to smoking. Emphasize how easy it is for you to quit this habit, and how happy you are that you have achieved your goal.

Step 4, Lastly, select an action or object that can quickly and strongly remind you of the emotions you have felt when you were able to imagine yourself into a smoke-free state. If you have made your choice, continue with the exercise while repeatedly making the action or maintaining your hold on the object. The session ends there, but the results remain to be seen.

When you feel the urge to smoke, quickly make the action or take hold of the object you have chosen to help you quit smoking. If the urge to smoke subsides, you have attained your goal!

Even with the help of hypnosis, it may be possible that you will still have a hard time quitting smoking. Do not give up on hypnosis, however, because quitting takes time no matter what method you are using. Having the help and support of your family and friends however will improve your chances of quitting smoking. Good luck on getting rid of those cigarettes!

Psychologist Recommends Ways to Use FREE Internet Tools and Hypnosis Downloads to Quit Smoking Now!

As an American psychologist and certified hypnotherapist, I advocate the use of clinical hypnosis for smoking cessation, one of the least expensive and most effective approaches to becoming smoke-free. Since the American Medical Association approved its use, in the 1950’s, hundreds of thousands of people have found hypnosis to be an effective way to stop smoking, lose weight, and otherwise improve their lives.
Since 1992, according to New Scientist magazine, it has been known that “Hypnosis is the most effective way of giving up smoking.” Its quote was based upon a study cited within the Journal of Applied Psychology, earlier that same year. These findings appear to hold true, even in today’s healthcare environment that seemingly demonstrates an overemphasis upon pharmacological approaches.
Over 80% of smokers admit that they desire to be smoke-free. Nonetheless, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nicotine dependence causes more annual premature deaths than HIV, illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides and murders combined. Smoking robs lifetime smokers of an average of seven years of their lives, with their final years often characterized as painfully debilitating. Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, the World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) Former Director-General, stated it most succinctly, when she said “A cigarette is the only consumer product which when used as directed kills its consumer.”
The insidious truth, about this profit-driven problem, is that the annual American health care costs of smoking reaches over $50 billion. It is responsible for more than 7% of all deaths, throughout the world. According to the WHO, within about a decade, this same estimate will likely increase to nearly 18% of worldwide deaths. Yearly, an average of over 3,000 American children and adults, will experience disease and premature death, from second-hand smoke. Worldwide, careless cigarette smoking is the number one cause of deaths from residential fires.
Although combining hypnosis with other forms of treatment, which can be recommended by your family physician or pharmacist, can increase its efficacy, it is not a necessity. If you know where to look, the Internet actually offers a place wherein you can download FREE self-hypnosis MP3 audio smoking cessation programs and even FREE ebook copies of best-selling smoking cessation books, like Allen Carr’s popular “The Illustrated Easy Way to Stop Smoking.”
Not surprisingly, clinical hypnosis is an often-misunderstood treatment that is basically an exercise in deep meditation. Once in a deeply relaxed state, one’s mind simply develops a natural, heightened focus. It is this fixed concentration that affords one the unique ability to incorporate the hypnotist’s smoke-free suggestions into everyday life.
Any behavior can be instantly changed, if there exist enough emotional pain associated with the old behavior, and enough motivating pleasure associated with the new behavior. On a subconscious level, in order to create lasting behavioral change, hypnosis can help to reinforce these real positive / negative consequences, like manipulating a dream, but more absorbing. The healthy result is often described as a nearly effortless, permanent change.
Most people are actually quite susceptible to the phenomenon of hypnotic suggestion, if it is consistent with something desired. In fact, it is not uncommon for many two-pack a day, twenty-plus years smokers to quit, after their first treatment. Nonetheless, I recommend reinforcing the hypnotic suggestions, with a self-hypnosis audio program for smoking cessation. Daily listening to your recording, for at least two weeks, should help to ensure a more positive treatment outcome.
Although most smokers attempt to quit using “willpower,” it is the least effective approach, requiring numerous, successive attempts, in order to finally become successful. Most prescription and over-the-counter quit smoking aids are only about 25% effective. The best indicators of success, with using the effectiveness of hypnosis to quit, are one’s prior ability to have successfully quit for at least one month; and one’s desire today to be smoke-free.

Quit Smoking – Hypnosis Can Save You More Than Just Money

You’ve already decided to quit smoking. Hypnosis is just one of the methods you’ve heard about. You know someone who’s using nicotine gum to quit, and he says it tastes like dirty socks. And you’ve already tried cold turkey a couple of times and remember every agonizing minute of it. So the quit smoking hypnosis program sounds pretty good. But aren’t those programs really expensive? Won’t they cost more than nicotine patches or pills?
Of course, if you’re really concerned about the expense of quitting smoking, there’s no need to tell you that your smoking habit is already costing you a small fortune. You already know that your money is literally going up in smoke. And if you didn’t already know it yourself, your friends and family are more than happy to tell you how much money you’re wasting…over and over again. It’s one of the many reasons you want to quit.
So, as long as the quit smoking method you finally choose costs less than what you’re spending on cigarettes or cigars, you’ll be coming out ahead, right? Maybe not.
Do you know how much those other quit smoking methods really cost? Nicorette gum can cost you more than $100 a month. Using a nicotine patch can also cost you more than $100 a month. And how about those nasal sprays and inhalers? Well, they’ll cost you anywhere from $100 to $400 per month or more. And prescription pills? There’s another hundred dollars per month, at least.
And that’s just the beginning. Smoking cessation programs that use these methods usually plan for you to be on them for two to six months. So you could be looking at a cost of anywhere from $200 to more than $2400 to quit smoking
Of course, double or triple that amount would still be worth it if you really quit smoking for good using those programs. But 8 out of 10 people who use quit smoking drugs end up smoking again after spending all that money. And if they want to try quitting again, using those same methods, they’ll need to spend that same amount of money or more the next time around.
Now compare those costs with the cost of learning how to use hypnosis to quit smoking. Depending on the program you use, hypnosis for quitting smoking can cost anywhere from $40 to $500. Of course, it’s more expensive if you choose to find a hypnotherapist and go to one-on-one, in-person counseling sessions . And it’s less expensive when you buy a book or CDs, and learn to use self-hypnosis.
But whether you learn the techniques in person from a therapist, or from a book or from an internet download, the hypnosis tools you use to quit smoking are just as effective . That’s because what you’re really learning is how to use self-hypnosis to cure yourself from both your physical addiction to nicotine, and from your mental and emotional smoking habits.
When you use gum, patches, sprays, inhalers or pills you’re spending money to address your physical addiction to nicotine. Yes, the nicotine replacement drugs address the physical cravings. But they don’t help one bit with changing all of your day to day smoking behaviors, habits and rituals.

Make it Easy For Yourself to Quit Smoking – Hypnosis Taps the Power of Your Subconscious Mind

Do you really want to make it easy for yourself to quit smoking? Hypnosis can tap into the power of your subconscious mind to cure your cravings. In order to help you quit smoking, hypnosis helps you turn negative habits into positive, healthy behaviors. So just how does it work?
Think about how you automatically drive a car. If you have been driving for any number of years, we’ve practiced every small action that goes into driving a car thousands of times. In fact, you’ve practiced them so many times that they have become automatic.
That’s why sometimes, when you’re preoccupied with something else, you can arrive at your destination and not remember driving there. You drove on autopilot, because you’ve done it so many times that your subconscious was able to take over for you.
You’ve created your habit of autopilot smoking the same way you’ve created your pattern of autopilot driving. You’ve smoked so many times, in so many situations, that most of the time you reach for your cigarettes and lighter without even thinking about it. You have actually trained your subconscious mind to make you smoke on autopilot. Your subconscious is performing the actions that it has been trained to do. But the actions are killing you.
The good news is, you weren’t born with a cigarette in your mouth. As a child, and maybe even as a young adult, you spent several years of your life as a non-smoker. That means your subconscious mind has a solid memory of “not smoking”. That’s really good news.
Even though you smoke on autopilot right now, you also know how to “not smoke”. You have direct experience being a non-smoker. So you don’t really have to learn a new behavior. You just have to unlearn a more recent (and deadly) behavior. And that’s what hypnosis can help you do.
Hypnosis can help your subconscious mind connect with your earlier experiences of “not smoking”. And it can help you practice being a non-smoker… over and over again. A good quit smoking hypnosis program helps you reconnect with the automatic part of your brain that knows how to “not smoke”.
Yes, it sounds kind of strange at first. But if you think about it for a moment, it makes a lot of sense. Connecting with that part of your brain that knows how to “not smoke” is especially powerful if you really want to stop smoking. Your strong desire to quit will act like fuel to ignite your motivation.
Many people have success the first time they use a quit smoking hypnosis program. But a lot of people have to try a second, third, or fourth time (or more) before they quit smoking for good. If you’re one of the people that has try to stop more than once, don’t be hard on yourself. Everyone’s situation is different.
Some people are lucky enough to start their quit smoking program during a calm time in their lives. Other people, even with the best intentions and motivation, quit smoking right before an unexpected life changing event happens. They get laid off, or their daughter announces she’s getting married. Even good things can be stressful.
A wedding or a new baby on the way can be wonderful news, but they still create stress. And stress is the number one trigger for most people to start smoking. That’s why self hypnosis has such a great long term track record with ex-smokers. Self-hypnosis is based on learning relaxation techniques. And if you practice them often enough, they turn into healthy new automatic habits that you can use for the rest of your life.

Quit Smoking Hypnosis – Far Better Than a Patch

The hypnosis treatment for smoking cessation is commonly called the Quit Smoking Hypnosis. This new program is often a self-hypnosis form of treatment mainly for those who intend to avoid nicotine intake. When individuals who opt to quit smoking undergo such therapy, sometimes they experience withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms are largely the result of powerful conditioned response.
In some studies, these conditioned responses must be reinforced by the individual’s credence and his self talk. Basically, when you acclimatize your body by telling yourself that quitting is always so hard and that you will never be able to stop, this is just the same as telling your body to crave for a cigarette and smoke one.
The most effective quit smoking hypnosis procedure entails the client’s portrayal of a hypnotist’s role along with positive self-talk. This way withdrawal symptom is eliminated as you do not fall prey to the negative self-talk that assures failure.
As mentioned earlier, conditioned responses are powerful and are effective for smoking cessation. The individual must learn to create new conditioned responses. Below are a few steps one can do to create new conditioned responses:
- Close your eyes, relax, and imagine your future state when you no longer take in nicotine by cigarette smoking. Make visual experience as real as you can by adding in you other sensory perceptions, which includes the sounds, the smells, the tastes, and the feelings.
- Dwell on this trip to your future time line when you have completely forgotten about smoking. Reflect on the feeling of amazement you experience once you stopped having any desire for tobacco and never gave it another thought.
- Begin to really feel the freedom you have and notice what it is like that your thoughts are your own and no longer owned by cigarettes. Continue to dwell on these and let your mind take these future resources back with you by anchoring these feelings of being a non-smoker.
- To anchor the future resources, press the thumb and finger together on your right hand. Do this for about 30 seconds, as this connects the feelings or the state to your brain.
- After this, bring yourself back to the present moment still holding your thumb and finger together.
As a new conditioned response is created one may use this whenever he thinks of wanting a cigarette. Together with the anchor, begin to be conscious of reminding yourself that the urge will be gone in a moment. Drinking a big glass of water will also help, along with three (3) very deep, slow breaths.
The whole simple procedure described above is a means of breaking the old pattern of a conditioned response of craving. It also tells one’s brain to access a new feeling – the image of a non-smoker.

Hypnosis For Actors

When an actor as accomplished as Sir Anthony Hopkins says he has used hypnosis successfully, you can’t help but be curious, right? You probably wonder, as I did: what has he used this often-admired, more-often-misunderstood tool for?
The answer: to quit smoking.
Hopkins knew smoking wasn’t healthy and, it is rumored, was concerned about his voice, so smoking-cessation hypnosis was an ideal choice for him, but there are many other uses of hypnosis that could be beneficial to actors.
- Top Ten Ways Actors Can Use Hypnosis:
1 – Lose or stabilize weight.
It’s no secret that actors need to be able to control their weight: whether to be svelte for photo ops or to bulk up for a role. Hypnosis can help. In fact, weight adjustment is the second hottest application for hypnosis for all users. (Smoking cessation wins first place most years.)
2 – Change destructive habits.
Smoking, overeating, habitual negative thoughts, and even numerous bad choices in relationships. Do these or other habits hurt your chances for a stellar career or an extraordinary life? Hypnosis can be a pain-free habit buster.
3 – Ease or vanquish pre-performance jitters.
Whether it’s a go-see, an audition, a callback, or opening night, hypnosis can be a great tool. Releasing undue worry makes acting fun again, the way it should be.
4 – Improve time-management.
If you work a “regular job” and perform, and take classes to boost your skills, and you’re attempting to have a regular life of friends and family…Whew, time is an issue! With self-hypnosis, you can train your inner mind to maximize time, set priorities, and move from task-to-task more effortlessly.
5 – Enhance the process of preparing for a role.
Is there an accent to learn, a way of carrying yourself, or simply a character’s mindset that you’d like to take on? Hypnosis is a great supplement to the preparation you usually do and can help you integrate the techniques you already know.
6 – Add naturalness and grace.
After your preparation for getting into character, there is still the issue of naturalness. Hypnosis can give you a leg up, allowing you to easily expand your sense of ease and increase spontaneity.
7 – Boost creativity and the ability to create effortlessly, without unnecessary second guessing.
You know this yourself: when you’re in the moment, really in the moment, there’s no self judging, no second guessing, no fear. You’re at your most creative. At your best.
If you’re lucky, those times are frequent, and they last a while.
If you’re like many, those moments come and go, and you may not know how to create them reliably, or how to maintain them.
If you know how to hypnotize yourself, you know that you create those moments. Once you sense how easy it is, you take the initiative to do so. And when you do, boy is it good.
8 – Deal better with rejection.
Wouldn’t it be great if every rejection didn’t hurt so much? Hypnosis can help you better handle the times you don’t get an expected callback, lose to a rival, or feel you didn’t perform as well as you’d like.
The less rejection hurts, and the shorter that feeling lingers, the more powerful you are as an actor because you can get right out there again, and every audition is a sparkling new opportunity without lingering negative feelings.
9 – Improve ability to memorize dialogue so it’s not a barrier.
The more easily you can memorize, the more quickly you can move on to the real deal: becoming the character. Hypnosis can also assist you with integrating a character’s accent or inflection so it feels, and sounds, natural.
10 – Put yourself in charge of your feelings, your career, your future-anytime, anywhere.
Once you’ve experienced the ease and effectiveness of hypnosis and its benefits, learning self-hypnosis is easy. This “do-it-yourself” approach is a natural next step. It lets you get the benefits of hypnosis anywhere, any time, even minutes before an audition or actual performance. What a tool!
Sometimes you may still want expert help from a professional hypnotist (and someone who is not embroiled in the “problem state”). Even so, knowing self hypnosis will help you recharge the effects between sessions.
- Something To Consider
When I speak of hypnosis for performers, one question inevitably arises. Same when I speak of hypnotizing athletes. Can you guess what it is?
That’s right: “Is hypnosis an unfair advantage?”
Hmm.
Well, is any advantage unfair? If you have the resources to take acting classes, voice classes, classes in auditioning more effectively, is that unfair to actors who don’t have the time or money to do the same?
What about hiring the best photographer in town for your headshot when others can’t?
Having an expert do your makeup before the photography session? Voice lessons?
Hypnosis, like many of the others, is a kind of coaching. We just happen to be coaching your subconscious mind, where most substantial change occurs, most easily.
So if you think it is unethical to get coaching that may improve your odds in a competitive field, don’t sign up for a hypnosis appointment. But if you’re okay with the possibility that you may outdo your competition, find the best hypnotist in town (one who understands actors!) and make an appointment. ©2008 by Wendy Lapidus-Saltz.
